I like books too, they're very close to home for me--especially fantasy, but I like adventure too.
[So they have one thing (aside from Victor) in common. Books are a good stepping stone. Maybe he could show her some of his books, and she could share some of hers...and explain a few things about the world she's from.]
So... [Pause for a moment. If he can't take care of a pet, how could he take care of Victor? Lucy pulls back a little more to look Jim over.] If you're not able to take care of a pet because of time and stuff, how will you be able to make time for Victor? Will you cut back on work or...?

Oh...okay, at least you know that much. Yeah, it looks a bit like a corgi, the way it walks and stuff. Corgis are really cute--all dogs are cute, really.
